HARP ADVICE: with Harp Twins

Dear MusiView today is time for Harp Twins, two amazing sisters, Camille and Kennerly ! They’re from Chicago, Illinois USA, maybe you can’t see so good but, trust me, they are TWINS (I’m so funny) !
Camille/Kennerly is the spitting imagine of Kennerly/Camille ! 
Anyway…Their name is Harp Twins and they started playing harp when they were in middle school and they had already been playing piano (keyboard) for years. They were both really drawn to the beauty of the harp.
The first problem was the Mom, because of course it’s a really expensive instrument (can you imagine two of this!?). So, it took them a while to convince their mom that they were serious about learning the harp, so they showed that by earning some of the money ourselves. Just like any instrument, harps come in a huge range of prices. Harp Twins told me that there is a perception that harp is unobtainable and only for those who are wealthy. However, harp is obtainable for anyone. They earned the money for their first harps theirselves when they were just 12 years old! A company that we love, Harpsicle Harps, sells wonderful harps starting at just a few hundred dollars (USD). They hope to show people that anyone can follow their dreams to play the harp.
They’re both very hard-working, so having an equally motivated music partner is very beneficial for them. They are happiest when they make each day as productive as possible. They always have an equal and trusted partner to bounce ideas off of and they feel that they push the other to continually be the best they can be.
I think it’s wonderful !! Have someone to work with who shares your vision.
They told me that for them, life is more gratifying when they’re together. They feel that they’re strong separately and unbeatable together. They’re so blessed to be able
to do what we love together as a TEAM.
Ok now it’s time to talk about which music they play…
Harp Twins were trained classically and have degrees in Harp Performance from a conservatory of music, so they have spent countless hours perfecting our classical music skills. However, their true passion is playing ROCK, CLASSIC ROCK, METAL, and SOUNDTRACK music.
Can you believe it? Cool Harpists no?
They love classical music, but they want to go where no harps have gone before! They love doing something different than just play the music that harpists have been playing for centuries. They taught ourselves to create our own arrangements of contemporary music. It’s very rewarding to be able to combine some of their great loves: harp plus rock/metal music.
Now is the moment of the ADVICE for future Harpists with Harp Twins:
“We think it is most important to be yourself and no one else. Find your own unique niche that is 100% *you*. We see so many artists who are just trailing behind someone else and trying to be that person – it’s so much better to be a first-rate YOU rather than a second-rate version of someone else. Work hard. Then work harder. Don’t give up because things are hard or not going as you planned. Put in the practice hours because there are no real shortcuts. Find a teacher who not only teaches skills, but who also allows you to love your instrument – our first harp teacher was so negative that we almost lost our love for the instrument, but thankfully our mom found another teacher who allowed us to grow and learn to love the instrument even more. We think it’s extremely important to keep the love for your instrument first and foremost. When we get discouraged we always turn back to why we are doing what we’re doing”
Technical advice:
Practice slowly: So many people want to play fast from the start. However, good technique and true mastery of a skill is built from the bottom up.
Practice with your body in mind: Stretch your arms, hands, and back before and after a practice session. Harp is a strenuous instrument. If you find yourself feeling too tense, take a break and come back to the harp later. Listen to your body.
Practice with purpose: Know what you plan to work on during a practice session before you even start. It is better to work with a purpose for a short period of time, then to work without concentration for a long period of time.
Practice the “hard stuff”: Spend time playing things that you love, but also spend time working on building technique. Work hard. Then work harder. Don’t give up because things are hard or not going as you planned. Put in the practice hours because there are no real shortcuts.

forse “non si vede molto bene” ma, credetemi, sono gemelle!
praticamente Camille / Kennerly è l’immagine sputata di Kennerly / Camille!
Comunque … Il loro nome è Harp Twins entrambe molto attratte dalla bellezza del arpa, hanno iniziato a suonare questo fantastico strumento durante la scuola media, ma già suonavano il pianoforte (tastiera) da anni.
Il primo problema da affrontare è stato: la mamma!! Ovviamente si tratta di uno strumento molto costoso (immaginatevi doverne comprare 2 !?) quindi ci hanno messo un po’ di tempo per convincere la loro mamma che erano “seriamente” interessate ad imparare l’arpa. Hanno dimostrato questo amore da subito, infatti hanno cercato di guadagnare più soldi possibili di tasca loro.
Non vi preoccupate però, perché proprio come ogni strumento, anche le Arpe sono disponibili in una vasta gamma di prezzi.
Le Harp Twins mi hanno riferito che si pensa sia uno strumento introvabile e solo per gente ricca. Tuttavia, le sorelle smentiscono dicendo che l’ arpa è ottenibile per chiunque. Loro hanno guadagnato i soldi per le loro prime arpe a soli 12 anni!
Consigliano vivamente una società che si chiama” Harpsicle Harps” (Trovate il link nella parte inglese) che vende meravigliosi arpe a partire da poche centinaia di dollari (USD).
Le Harp Twins, con il loro lavoro e amore per la musica, sperano di mostrare alla gente che chiunque può seguire i propri sogni e suonare questo fantastico strumento.
Sono entrambe grandi lavoratrici…bhè avere un partner motivato quanto te, ma soprattutto uguale a te, sicuramente è di grande aiuto! Fiducia e Forza reciproca, questi sono i loro punti forza, spronandosi a vicenda a rendere ogni giorno sempre più produttivo.
Non è meraviglioso !?! lavorare con chi condivide la tua stessa visione.
Nella nostra fantastica chiacchierata, le sorelle mi hanno riferito che per loro la vita è più gratificante quando sono insieme (che tenerezza). Si sentono forti separatamente ma i n s u p e r a b i l i quando sono insieme. Sono una grande squadra insieme !
Ok ora è il momento di parlare di quale musica suonano …
Diplomate al Conservatorio, le Harp Twins hanno un vasto repertorio classico, tuttavia, la loro vera passione è suonare Rock, Classic Rock, METAL, e colonne sonore.
Ci credete ? Quanto sono fiche queste Arpiste?
Amano la musica classica, ma vogliono andare dove le arpe non sono mai arrivate prima! Amano fare qualcosa di diverso che la “solita” musica, imparando ad arrangiarsi autonomamente, gratificandosi unendo le loro passioni.
Ora è il momento dei CONSIGLI delle Harp Twins per i futuri arpisti :
“Pensiamo che la cosa più importante sia essere se stessi trovando la propria nicchia che ti rispecchia al 100% , vediamo così tanti artisti che cercano sempre di essere qualcun altro… È sicuramente meglio essere il primo in qualcosa, piuttosto che la versione di seconda categoria di qualcun altro. Altro consiglio che vi diamo è: Lavora sodo, puoi lavorare sempre di più, non rinunciare a causa delle difficoltà. Fate le vostre ore di pratica, perché tanto non ci sono scorciatoie. Trovate un insegnante che non solo vi porti ad avere grande tecnica, ma che vi faccia essere innamorati del vostro strumento, il nostro primo insegnante di arpa era così negativo che abbiamo quasi perso tutta la volontà, ma per fortuna nostra madre ci trovò un altro maestro che ci ha insegnato a crescere e ad amare lo strumento. Quando vi scoraggiate fermatevi e pensate al “perché” state facendo quello che state facendo.”
Consigli Tecnici :
Esercitati lentamente: Tante persone vogliono suonare veloce sin dall’inizio. Tuttavia la buona tecnica e la vera maestria si costruisce dal basso verso l’alto.
Esercitati con il corpo e la mente: allungare le braccia, le mani, prima e dopo una sessione di prove. Ricorda che l’Arpa è uno strumento faticoso. Se vi capita di sentirvi troppo tesi, fate una pausa e tornate dall’arpa in seguito. Ascoltate sempre il vostro corpo.
Esercitati con uno scopo: Sapere sempre su cosa lavorare prima ancora di iniziare. È meglio lavorare con uno scopo per un breve periodo di tempo, che lavorare senza concentrazione per un lungo periodo di tempo.
Esercitati duramente: trascorrere il tempo suonando solo le cose che ami va bene, ma devi anche dedicare del tempo lavorando sulla tecnica duramente. Non rinunciare perché le cose sono difficili.
