HOW TO CREATE AN INSTAGRAM PAGE FOR MUSICIANS

Which is my favourite social media platform? Yes, of course Instagram.

Today I want to help you to make your musical page look pretty, and basically to have more followers possible thanks to that one. I’m still working to understand how is the best way to improve an instagram page for a musician, but so far I can already give you some tips.

FIND INSPIRATION

Check pages which can help you to take some ideas. That doesn’t mean to copy other page!!! Just take some ideas to start already in a good way. Check these pages:

CHOOSE A COLOR 

If you take a look at Thatviolakid instagram page, you’ll notice there are blue, clear blue, and yellow/orange on his page, or if you check my instagram page Musgaia, you will see that my colors are red/terracotta,  green and something like yellow/desert sand.

Having a consistent colour scheme totally works! Make sure all your colours are brights or pastels, it also works a lot!

DON’T BE UNFRIENDLY

Follow/like/comment other musicians!!!!! Don’t be unfriendly and give a feedback also to other talent, new and famous, because instagram is a community and that’s what you need to think about!

CHOOSE GOOD #

That’s depend from your niche. For example if you are a classical musician, already the simple #classicalmusic can help you a lot! Here some good # for classical musicians :

GOOD QUALITY OF YOUR PICTURE/VIDEO

Editing your picture is probably boring for you, but trust me that is important. Thanks to your good pictures or video with a good quality you will reach for sure more audience on your Instagram page. Normally I used free apps, but also spent like 2e for a good app it’s not too bad. These are some useful apps that you can use for your editing:

VSCO | Lightroom (free trial) | ColorStory | instragram filters | iPhone editing

When using editing apps, stick to the same filters each time you edit your photos (like we said for the colours) be consistent to your theme.

TAG BIG PAGE

If you make a video, it’s really useful to tag big pages that can featured you. For example:

If you click on the arrow on the right of the “follow” button,  you can find more pages like these.

INTERACTION WITH YOUR FOLLOWERS

Yes!!! Be kind and trying to answer to all your followers messages would be something reeeeaally cute to do. Everybody are able on Instagram to leave a cute comment, opinion or bad comment, and I think is always good to try to show that you are really interested on them. If you are not…why do you want followers? So, respond when you can but TRY at least! You have also to figure out WHEN your followers are active! That’s is really important for find your optimal posting time. Normally the optimal one is between 16:00/18:00 pm , I think for a good combination with the different timing around the world. Would be amazing if you will posting ONES a day at least .

But you need to observe when you receive more likes, more comment or in general more reaction from your follower, when you will learn it, your Instagram page will grow faster for sure!

DON’T BUY FAKE FOLLOWERS

Another reeeeally important thing is DON’T BUY FAKE FOLLOWERS. In the first moment you will have a beautiful feeling with your 15.000 number right there…but that your engagement (likes on your pics/video) will show your reality. That’s not great! If your content is good and your talent also, trust me that people will follow you without thinking too much.

What can help you are the collaboration with other musicians! Just try to contact a musician like you (maybe with the same follower’s number, you have more possibility) and ask a collaboration! That is helpful for you but also really funny, and you are able to know a lot of cute people!

INSTASTORY

Be creative and natural, show a bit of your life to your followers, or promote your new posts on it. Normally people like more to see in real how is going, so maybe you can show the backstage of your musical life! Or if you have a blog like me, you can also promote your new posts on it. Anyway, more creative and natural you are more people will follow your Instagram page.
